I know, I know, I am the worlds worst blogger! This is a baby book for Sylas and I can’t seem to keep up with it. BUT I am getting down all the big things, right? (ish)
So, you’re 10 months old and walking! We are proud proud! Reece started walking at 10 months old, and daddy of course wanted you to walk sooner, but he is happy you didn’t pass that 10 month mark (oh you Honea’s! So silly). You are bit wobbly, but you prefer to walk instead of crawl to get places. I really can’t believe that I am allowed to say “next month my baby is going to be 1!” Please tell me, where has the time gone? Did you see it leave? I must have missed it while I was staring at you in awe. You are already 24 pounds (90 percentile) and 40 inches long (80th percentile!), and you are our big bundle of love! You are such a lover, Sylas.
The holidays came and went. We got to spend a lot of time with Rickie and Bub, who were here for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was definitely needed. We needed them and missed them so much. They stayed until January 9th and then headed back to Costa Rica. They got to spend so much time loving on Sylas, I think they needed that too. I know it is selfish, but what I wouldn’t give to have them here all of the time with us!
Sylas also had to get tubes put in his ears to drain better because the poor little guy had 3 ear infections in 3 months :( He had a lot of fluid in his ears and was unable to hear properly, so I am relieved it is all taken care of now.
This is a picture of Sylas at Uncle Danny and Aunt Jessica’s wedding in December. That was another big thing during the holidays. It was such a beautiful wedding, and we all had such a blast (especially Sylas who got loved on by EVERYONE!)
Our family at the wedding :)
Things have finally started to calm down and getting back to normal around here. Now we are all just looking forward to summer time! I have already bought summer clothes and have been waiting for the sun to come back :)
I love you boy.
At the beginning of October Sylas started showing interest in crawling. My roommate said “Oh he’ll be crawling before the end of the week!” I was skeptical and thought that he’dbe crawling at most by the end of October. Well it came and went and he were still army crawling, but I didn’t mind. A crawling baby meant my easy days of leaving him alone in the living room while I ran to the other room to do something real quick would be gone. I would have to make sure where ever I left Sylas would have to be completely baby proof, and I while I was in the other room I would still wonder if he was getting into something, so of course, I wasn’t rushing it. But at the same time, I encouraged him of course. I wanted my baby to crawl! To discover the freedom, and excitement of independence. Well, a month and a half later, Sylas is officially crawling! He did it and I’m so so proud!
I know I have not been posting very much, so other exciting news from this month are that the boy loves to eat! He can now use his hands to feed himself, and he will eat anything. There has not been one thing he doesn’t like, and he’s tried a lot of things from veggies, to thai food! His favorite thing so far is pancakes, though. He is also standing up on everything. If there is a table or couch above his head, he’s up checking out what’s on it. He has also had 2 ear infections and has another cold right now. Poor little guy. It does not help that I babysit Alice who’s mom is a preschool teacher, so whatever she brings home, Alice brings over here.
Next week Vans parents are coming home from Costa Rica fro the first time since April. I can’t wait for them to see Sylas again and love on him! They really adore that boy and I can’t wait for them to really enjoy them, in person, and not on skype (though I’m very thankful for skype!)
My big boy!
Seven Months Old!
You’re seven months old! Can you believe it? Oh Sylas, you’re amazing every single day! These past seven months have been such a joy getting to know you. You are so much more than I could have ever imagined, and I love you so very much! At seven months old you are still not crawling, but today you did get up on all fours and put one knee in front of the other, along with your hands, but then decided to sit back down. You got your first two teeth, the bottom ones, the day you turned 7 months old, and boy are they sharp! You are happy, and fun, and love to play. You love everyone you meet, and are happy everywhere we take you as long as you are with us. You love toys that crinkle and make a lot of noise and you love to bang your hands on things to see what noise it makes. You are very curios and observant. You already know what toys you have thoroughly examined, and what toys you have not, and if you are in the mood to look at something new, no old toy will do. You love all food we have given you, including thai food last night, and loved it. You are now eating off of our plate, as long as it is soft and easy to munch on. You are 20 pounds now, which means you have already surpassed Reeces weight at this age! (Something daddy is quite proud of) You are the light of our lives, Sylas Aiden Honea, and I don’t think we would be who we are without you! You give us joy, pleasure, and motivation to do wonderful things for you and for us! I love you so much!
Love your momma!
Whew! Its been a crazy two months! First of all, my Dell laptop, and first computer, finally just died. One night, I was trying to find an article I had seen no the news, but Van was bugging me to go to bed. In a rush, without thinking, an warning popped up and I accidentally pushed “Accept” instead of “Ignore”. I did not have any anti virus software and I think it allowed a virus because the next day it just gradually responded/worked slower all day, until it would no longer start up. When I turned it on it just said that there was a system error. Well, I was without a computer for over a month.
During the last 2 months a lot has happened. Sylas turned 5 months old which held a lot fun new things! During Sy’s fifth month he started eating veggies and fruits, sitting up on his own, being able to use his hands with a lot more accuracy, becoming aware of his surroundings more, and rolling over both ways with ease. He is such a sweet baby, too. He is happy and loves to be moving. Whether its in the car, or the stroller, he is happy as long as we are on the move. He also decided he loved our 2 dogs. Every time Penny, our aussie mix or Shamba, our black lab, would walk by Sylas would get a big smile on his face and gasp while trying to grab them.
There were some big changes for the family that came in July and August as well. We moved to a new house, which I will get to in a separate post, and I started school at a community college. I also got a new computer for school, and I am so happy after dealing with my really crappy Dell for 5 years! Another big thing, Van and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary and our Penny Lane turned 2!
Sylas is 6 months old now, but will be 7 months old next week. NEXT WEEK!!! Where did the time go? I can’t even believe it. He doesn’t even seem like a baby any more. I have loved watching Sylas grow this last month! It seems like he has changed so much! He is starting to army crawl, and he is such a pro at sitting up now, he can go from his hands and knees back to a sitting position with ease. He is also trying to stand on everything! He loves to practice his walking if you hold his hands and lead him around. He finally stopped being swaddled and is sleeping in his own crib every single night (He got his own room in the move!) He is only being bottle fed now, which is another post I will get into at a later time. He holds his own bottle (sippy cup with handles and a bottle nipple) and goes to sleep on his own after finishing his bottle. He eats everything and still has yet to refuse any food he has tried. Everyday Sylas eats a big bowl of oatmeal when he wakes up and before he goes to bed, for lunch and dinner he has 5 oz of pureed fruits or vegetables for each mea, mum mum crackers, and 3-6 8 oz bottles. This babe loves to eat! Today at breakfast I gave him pieces of my pancake (no syrup) and he munched his jaws around and loved it! He still does not have any teeth though. He can now play all my himself on the floor or in his activity center for a long while. He loves everyone he meets too, and still loves all of our animals :) Sylas and my aussie mix are best friends :) He still loves to spend time outside, and now we have a big porch so we are outside everyday for hours at a time. He has started talking a lot more this month too. He still takes a pacifier through out the day, but only if he is upset or falling asleep. He got his first cold and ear infection and did not sleep well during that. We were all very sleep deprived at the end of it, and it didn’t help that I also had caught the cold. We are falling in love with Sylas more every single day. We are so blessed to have him in our life, he has brought us such joy :) He is healthy, happy and full of adventure!
